Update: Coffeeworks has thanked the public and has said that it has been 'inundated' with donations.

They will still go to the Point Car Park in Teignmouth on Thursday 3 March, but only for those already confirmed and commenting on its Facebook posts.

Over £4k has also been raised on JustGiving, so that Mr Saunders and his son can either 're-supply and redeliver in Poland' after the initial delivery, or donate the funds to 'other local charitable causes supporting the people of Ukraine.'

A local business owner is set to drive to the Ukraine-Poland border this weekend (5-6 March) to deliver donations to people fleeing the Russian invasion.

John Saunders and his wife Kathy, who live in Holcombe, are co-owners of coffee machine supplier and servicer Coffeeworks.

John will make the trip with his son this weekend. They are collecting donations in the Teignmouth area and are also accepting donations at their warehouse in Marsh Barton.

Kathy Saunders said: "My husband and son will be driving our van to the Polish-Ukraine border with aid this weekend.

"We felt it was something we could help with through our company.

"[We are] looking for your support to take aid to the Ukrainian refugees in Poland.

"Donations needed are:

  • Toothpaste/brushes
  • Soap
  • Shampoo
  • Nappies
  • Dry dog/cat food
  • Sanitary products
  • Good quality sleeping bags/blankets/towels
  • Wet wipes
  • Batteries
  • Sealed bags of sweets
  • Colouring books and pencils

"Thank you for your support."

Collection points

They will be at the Point Car Park in Teignmouth with their Coffeeworks van from 8.30am to 10am on Thursday 3 March.

Their warehouse in Marsh Barton, located here on Google Maps, is accepting donations from 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday this week.
