Teignbridge District Council has now launched a public consultation for its new homelessness and rough sleeping strategy.
Local people are being asked for their views on the new five-year plan, which is being introduced in case the Covid-19 pandemic has a significant impact on homelessness in the district.
The council has said that the number of people sleeping rough in Teignbridge is 'comparatively low' thanks to its previous efforts.
Executive Member for Housing Cllr Martin Wrigley said: "This strategy... builds on the excellent work of the team over recent years to tackle causes of homelessness and rough sleeping and to support local people who need somewhere to live."
The survey
The new draft strategy will reportedly focus on 'prevention, intervention, and recovery', by working with people early on and helping them stay in their homes, making it easier to find accommodation and support services, and avoiding 'repeat homelessness' with suitable and safe accommodation.
