A road traffic collision in Dawlish yesterday (Thursday 21 October) at around 2.44pm saw firefighters from Teignmouth and Middlemoor rescue a person trapped in a car on its side.

A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire & Rescue Service said: "Fire control received a report from police of a two-vehicle road traffic collision with one person still trapped within their vehicle.

"Control mobilised three appliances from Teignmouth and Middlemoor, along with the Heavy Rescue Vehicle from Middlemoor, due to reports the car was on its side.

"Once on scene crews confirmed an RTC involving two vehicles with one casualty still within the vehicle.

"Crews got to work using stabilisation equipment and small tools to extricate the casualty from the car.

"Crews used one hose reel jet, stabilisation equipment, small tools, and a makita saw.

"Once the casualty had been successfully extricated from the vehicle they were left in the hands of paramedics on scene."
